
The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) has announced a series of specialized waste collection events this spring, offering residents across Western Pennsylvania the opportunity to safely dispose of household chemicals and hard-to-recycle materials.
Household Chemical Collection – North Park
Residents of Allegheny County can participate in a Household Chemical Collection event on Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at North Park, Allison Park, PA 15101. The event aims to collect a range of hazardous household items such as paint, cleaners, batteries, pesticides, and automotive fluids.
The fee structure includes:

$20 per 10 gallons or 50 pounds of materials

$12 per fire extinguisher

$15 per pound of liquid mercury
Accepted payment methods include cash, card, check, or tap. Advance registration is required at prc.org/CollectionEvents or by calling 412-488-7490.
Hard-to-Recycle Collection – North Park
Two weeks later, a Hard-to-Recycle Collection event will take place at the same location on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For a $5 participant fee, residents can recycle items like phones, computer towers, microwaves, polystyrene packaging, and more.

Advance registration is also required for this event.
These events are supported by the Allegheny County Health Department, Colcom Foundation, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, Pennsylvania American Water, and Styropek.
